Escalating Threat for Germany: New Developments in the Jan Marsalek Investigation
In a series of revelations, investigative journalists have managed to uncover the whereabouts of Jan Marsalek, a former Wirecard board member who has been out of reach of German investigators for five years due to his protection by the Kremlin.
Marsalek, now residing in Moscow under the name Alexander Nelidov, has been a subject of intense scrutiny since the collapse of Wirecard. The colorful figure of the German financial world has been described as a "dirty soldier who carries out Putin's game" by CDU politician Marc Henrichmann.
The investigative team tracked down Marsalek in Moscow through investigative files on a spy ring in London. They found evidence that Marsalek visits the Lubjanka Square daily, which is the headquarters of the Russian domestic intelligence service FSB. Photographs of him entering the FSB headquarters have also been obtained.
Henrichmann claims that Marsalek is associated with the Russian intelligence service (FSB) and argues that he still poses a threat to Germany. He described Marsalek's actions as Putin playing without any rules.
