Free Cultural Scene Celebrates Return of Erfurt's Annual Theme - Erfurt Launches €200K Grant to Transform Spaces Through Art in 2026

Erfurt's arts community is abuzz with anticipation as the city initiates a call for proposals, inviting innovative concepts for a 2026 cultural annual theme. The initiative, titled 'KulturOrtsWechsel – A Grant Program to Transform Unconventional Spaces', offers a total of €200,000 for projects across all artistic disciplines and genres. The deadline for submissions is January 15.

Lisa Hilpert, a board member of Ständige Kulturvertretung Erfurt (SKV), sees this call as a response to the community's advocacy for preserving and enhancing local cultural traditions. The city's funding program is institutionally managed by both the Free State of Thuringia (Freistaat Thüringen) and the state capital Erfurt (Landeshauptstadt Erfurt).

Artists, initiatives, associations, and creative professionals are invited to submit their ideas for projects that focus on a specific location. The aim is to transform unconventional spaces into vibrant cultural hubs, fostering creativity and engagement within the community.

With a substantial budget of €200,000 allocated for this program, Erfurt's independent arts community is expected to present a diverse range of proposals. The city looks forward to supporting innovative projects that will enrich the cultural landscape of Erfurt in 2026.
