In a recent operation, the municipality of Monte San Giacomo, located in the province of Salerno, took decisive action against the ongoing stray horse phenomenon on its territory. The intervention, conducted in accordance with a specific municipal ordinance that prohibits stray grazing, saw the seizure of three stray horses, including two adults and a foal, that were found freely roaming on public land.

The operation, aimed at combating the stray horse phenomenon, was not an isolated event. Last November, a meeting at the Prefettura in Salerno took place to intensify monitoring, particularly in mountainous areas, regarding the stray horse issue. The renewed invitation to citizens to report stray animals is likely part of this broader prevention and control plan.

The Veterinary Service of the ASL of Salerno and the Carabinieri Forestali of the Padula station were the protagonists of the intervention. The responsible authorities collaborating to solve the problem of stray horses in the Monte San Giacomo area and the Province of Salerno also include local veterinary services, the Carabinieri Forestry Unit, and regional environmental protection agencies.

The seized horses will remain in custody at suitable facilities until the completion of investigations and the adoption of prescribed penalties. The municipality of Monte San Giacomo has not specified a timeline for when the stray horse problem will be definitively resolved.

The administration's commitment to resolving the stray horse problem includes using every tool provided by the law to guarantee safety and respect for regulations on the territory. The stray horse phenomenon is considered a concrete risk to road safety.

The municipality of Monte San Giacomo has declared its commitment to continue collaborating with competent institutions to resolve the stray horse problem. However, it has not indicated whether any new resources or funding have been allocated to address the issue. The intensification of monitoring, as established in the meeting at the Prefettura in Salerno, is aimed at controlling the stray horse phenomenon in difficult-to-patrol mountainous areas.

The administration renews its invitation to citizens to promptly report the presence of stray animals to the competent authorities. The municipality has not mentioned any specific new measures or strategies to combat the stray horse phenomenon beyond collaboration with competent institutions. Nevertheless, the commitment to combat this issue is clear, and the hope is that with continued collaboration, the stray horse problem in Monte San Giacomo will be brought under control.
