Constance Lake Night Festival Thrives with Fireworks Display Amidst Changes
The Constance Lake Night Festival, a beloved event in Germany, continues to dazzle visitors with its grand fireworks display, despite rumours of potential changes for next year.
This year's event, held on the shores of Lake Constance, offered more than just fireworks. Along the Seestraße and in the city garden, jugglers, fire artists, street musicians, live bands playing jazz and pop, interactive activities, a festival market, and DJs spinning electronic tunes were available for visitors to enjoy. The festivities began in the afternoon, with the programme starting at 6 p.m. on Little Venice.
The fireworks display, a highlight of the festival, is traditionally set off from ships. This year's theme was "A Million Dreams - Is That Art or Can That Be Removed?" The display, presented jointly by Constance and Kreuzlingen (Switzerland), has been described as Switzerland’s largest and remains a key attraction for the festival.
Despite some speculation about the future of the fireworks display, as of the most recent information available in 2025, there is no indication that it is being discontinued or that any alternative celebrations are being considered. The festival appears to maintain its traditional format with fireworks as a highlight.
The entrance fee for adults this year is 25.90 euros (including booking fee), a two-euro increase from last year, attributed to the rising costs of security measures for the major event. Despite the increase, approximately 33,000 visitors attended the festival on Saturday.
The police in Constance and Kreuzlingen drew a positive conclusion after the Lake Night Festival, stating that it was a peaceful and beautiful family festival with relatively few incidents. No major events or serious crimes were recorded during the festival. Many visitors traveled by train or bus to the festival, and there were no significant traffic disruptions during arrival or departure.
Constance's mayor, Uli Burchardt (CDU), suggests alternatives to the fireworks display, such as laser shows or drone shows, if the fireworks display is indeed discontinued in the future. No alternative for the fireworks display has been announced yet.
