In an unfortunate start to their preseason training, Erzgebirge Aue is missing several key players. Mika Clausen, a standout player from last season who scored five goals and provided five assists, is out with a groin injury. He underwent surgery during the off-season due to persistent pain and the club announced this on Friday. No specific duration for his recovery has been given.
Training Partners Missing On The Field: Who's Out
The Saxon third-division team kicked off their preseason with individual performance tests on Friday, with coach Jens Härtel calling the team onto the pitch for the first time on Monday. Along with Clausen, Marcel Bär (recovering from Achilles tendon rupture), Maxi Schmid (rehabilitating after syndesmosis injury), Maxim Burghardt (recovering after ACL injury), Can Özkang (rebuilding after ACL injury), Ricky Bornschein (rehabilitating after tumor removal), and Boris Tashchy (knee problems) are all missing.
On A Positive Note: The New Faces
Despite the long list of injuries, the team is boosted by the arrival of eight external new signings. Players like Luan Simnica, Moritz Seiffert, Ryan Malone, Julian Günther-Schmidt, Erik Weinhauer, Tristan Zobel, Jannic Ehlers, and Eric Uhlmann are in high spirits and have already completed their tests. Additionally, the "returnees" Louis Lord and Finn Hetzsch, who were previously loaned out, have returned. New to the professional squad are homegrown players Paul Seidel and Lukas Schimkus, who had a taste of professional football last season.
