Environmental Groups Sue Trump Admin Over Frozen EV Charging Funds

Environmental groups have taken legal action against the Trump administration over a freeze on electric vehicle (EV) charging funds. The lawsuit targets the Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration for withholding $2.5 billion from the Charging and Fueling Infrastructure Grant Program (CFI).

The case was filed by organisations including Sierra Club, Climate Solutions, NRDC, and Earthjustice. Their legal representative, Katherine E. Blomquist, argues that the funding halt jeopardises planned charging projects and delays efforts to reduce pollution from gas-powered vehicles.

The legal challenge highlights concerns over stalled electric car infrastructure development. If successful, the case could unlock billions for charging stations across the country. The outcome will determine whether the promised grants finally reach communities waiting for cleaner transport options.
