Enthusiastic hockey match receives high marks from recovery ward

On June 4, 2023, a charity ice hockey game was held at Cologne Arena 2, with the participation of teams from the police and fire departments. The event aimed to raise funds for the injured emergency services personnel, their families, and relatives in Ratingen.

The game, streamed live, allowed some of the injured emergency services personnel to watch from their bedsides. The audience reserved special applause for the injured heroes, showing great support and solidarity.

Notable attendees at the event included NRW Interior Minister Herbert Reul, Cologne's city director Andrea Blome, Cologne's police president Schnabel, Mettmann district administrator Thomas Hendele, Ratingen's fire protection commissioner Harald Filip, and the head of the Ratingen fire department René Schubert. Dr. Miller, the head of the Cologne fire department, who is also known for playing for Backdraft Cologne, was also present.

Backdraft Cologne emerged victorious with a score of 6:4. Many emergency services personnel from Ratingen were present to cheer.
