Enthused Klopp over enhanced Everton's performance prior to Merseyside derby
Liverpool Prepares for Everton Clash Amidst Recent Setbacks
Jurgen Klopp is gearing up for the Merseyside derby against Everton at Anfield on Sunday, following a midweek defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League. The German manager considers the Everton game to be a "special game" due to its unique nature in the derby.
Despite the loss to PSG, Klopp insists that the result has no bearing on the Everton game. He acknowledged the improvement and development of Everton under current manager Marco Silva, stating that the Toffees would be a European team in any competition.
Klopp is particularly impressed with Everton's recent form, as they have picked up 16 points in their last seven Premier League outings, moving up to sixth in the table. The Liverpool boss has high regard for Silva's signings, specifically naming Richarlison as a player that the Everton manager specifically wanted and who has made a significant impact.
The Everton squad, according to Klopp, is the best-tuned in recent years, with notable additions such as André Gomes, Kurt Zouma (loan), Fabian Delph, Bernard, and Yerry Mina in the 2018-19 season. Seamus Coleman is back and fit, while Micheal Keane is settled and ready to go. Theo Walcott joined Everton last year, and Bernard joined this year.
One player that Klopp compares to Leighton Baines is Lucas Digne. The French defender has been a valuable addition to the Everton squad, providing a solid defensive presence and contributing to the team's attacking prowess.
Marco Silva, who has no prior derby experience against Liverpool, will be looking to capitalise on Liverpool's recent setbacks. Klopp, however, feels there is never enough time to properly prepare for the Everton game, and the rest of the preparations are proceeding as usual.
Jordan Pickford, considered England's number one goalkeeper, will be a key player for Everton. The Liverpool team will be looking to bounce back from their Champions League defeat and secure a crucial win in the Merseyside derby.
