Entertaining troupe 'Luzia' brings joy to the young patients at Children's National Hospital.
On Friday afternoon, performers from Cirque du Soleil's "Luzia" show took a trip away from Under the Big Top in Tysons to bring a touch of magic to Children's National Hospital. The event, which took place in the atrium of the hospital, included dancing, tricks, and the display of beautiful costumes.
Acrobat Mikael Bruyere, one of the performers, expressed the significance of the visit, stating, "It means so much. I'm a dad myself, so I'm just really happy to be able to come here and give the children a little smile for the day and make their day better."
Yohanna Abebe, a 5-year-old patient, was among those who participated in the entertainment. She expressed her joy about the performance by saying, "I saw the bird. That was so fun! She made me laugh." Yohanna was seen mimicking the performers' moves and jumping around in excitement.
The event provided a break from doctors' appointments for the young patients at Children's National Hospital. It allowed them to leave their hospital rooms for a brief period, offering a much-needed change of scenery. The performance featured various dance moves and tricks, as well as the display of colorful and intricate costumes.
"Luzia" is currently performing in Tysons until October 18. The director of the show is Daniele Finzi Pasca. The event at Children's National Hospital was a testament to Cirque du Soleil's commitment to spreading joy and bringing a sense of wonder to audiences of all ages.
The visit brought a spark of happiness to the young patients, as evidenced by Yohanna's words, "That was so fun!" The performers' visit truly made a difference in the lives of the children at Children's National Hospital, providing a moment of joy and laughter in their journey towards recovery.
