Gleaming Skies Ahead for Mother's Day: A Sun-Soaked Celebration!

Ideal Spring Climates Gracing Mother's Day Celebrations - Enjoyable spring weather for Mother's Day celebrations

Looking ahead to this Mother's Day, the skies are shaping up for a bright and beautiful celebration! The German Weather Service (DWD) predicts a cavalcade of sunshine and the occasional fluffy cumulus cloud on Sunday. The Upper Rhine might even witness temperatures soaring to a toasty 25°C. However, the Alps may face a slight sprinkle of rain.

The jovial weather kicks off over the weekend, with the sun gracing us frequently, making it a splendid 20°C for a serene stroll or invigorating bike ride in nature, according to DWD meteorologist Nico Bauer.

Saturday presents itself as a sun lover's paradise in the southwest, while the northeast might be draped in a little more cloud cover. Some precipitation is expected to grace Pomerania through Brandenburg, keeping temperatures below the 20°C mark. The rest of the lowlands will delight in balmy spring-like temperatures, ranging up to 23°C.

Mother's Day Soak Up the Sun... responsibly

As Mother's Day arrives, the sun will be shining more lavishly in the northeast, and temperatures will sich warmer in the south. So, don't forget your trusty sunscreen, advises the DWD, as spending extensive time under the sun calls for suitable sun protection.

No Rain in Sight, but Drought Concerns Persist

The sunshine continues into the new week, with only harmless cumulus clouds making an appearance on Monday. The far southwest might witness a few showers and tumultuous thunderstorms, but the overall dry spring weather looks set to persist.

Regrettably, substantial rainfall remains elusive. April showers barely managed to gather 31 liters per square meter, amounting to just 53% compared to the average for the reference period 1961 - 1990. Compared to the more recent reference period 1991 - 2020, this amount represents approximately 69% of the average. The DWD's monthly report states that the current spring has been marked by alarming dry conditions, prompting concerns about the potential risks associated with Easter bonfires due to the continued dry weather.
