This prestigious accolade recognises the finest easy to medium hiking routes in the nation that harmoniously blend scenic beauty with trails suitable for all.
The Gorge Trail winds through a fern-covered gorge, offering breathtaking views of the park's 19 waterfalls. One of the most notable attractions is the unique natural phenomena of the waterfall splitting in two, a spectacle that can be admired from viewpoints along the trail.
Meanwhile, in a surprising turn of events, the Devil's Kettle Trail in Judge C.R. Magnet State Park, Minnesota, claimed the top spot in this year's awards. Known for its waterfall that splits in two, with half disappearing underground, this relatively easy going, two-hour round trip hike has become a favourite among outdoor enthusiasts.
The Trapps Trail, located 90 miles from New York City, took the second place. This leisurely and tranquil 5-mile loop explores mossy staircases, maple woodland, dramatic cliffs, and impressive rock formations. The trail, nestled within the Shawangunk region, also known as the Gunks, is a renowned rock climbing area, with Lynn Hill putting up several first ascents during the 1980s.
These awards serve as inspiration for all to grab their hiking boots and backpacks and get out into the backcountry.
