Enhances UH Baseball Team's Pitchers with Transition from Washington

Boston Warkentin, a highly-touted pitching prospect from Canada, is set to join the University of Hawaii (UH) baseball team in August, following a lengthy recovery from Tommy John surgery on his throwing elbow.

Warkentin, who accepted an offer from UH earlier this year, did not pitch during the 2025 season due to his elbow injury. However, after eight months of rehabilitation, his elbow has fully healed, and he is now throwing at full capacity.

The UH pitching coach, Keith Zuniga, and the team's staff have been praised by Warkentin for their greatness and development, as he prepares to make his debut for the Rainbow Warriors (the 'Bows).

Before the injury, Warkentin's fastball averaged between 89 and 91 mph, topping at 92 mph. According to recent bullpen sessions, his fastball velocity has increased to 91-94 mph, a testament to his hard work during his recovery.

The right-handed pitcher suffered an injury to his elbow in the spring of 2023, which required surgery in March 2024. The recovery process was challenging, with Warkentin stating that the first three months were the hardest due to limited activity. However, he remained patient, and his dedication paid off.

Warkentin began his rehabilitation process last October and has since made a remarkable comeback. Before his injury, he made four relief appearances for the University of Washington as a freshman in 2023.

Before joining the UH baseball team, Warkentin was a member of Canada's Junior National team in 2021. He grew up 30 minutes outside of Vancouver and was one of Canada's top pitching prospects in high school.

There has been no news reported about the departure of pitchers Isaiah Magdaleno, Sebastian Gonzalez, and Freddy Rodriguez from the 'Bows' roster. Warkentin entered the transfer portal last month, and the University of Hawaii baseball team has welcomed him as a transfer from the University of Washington.

Warkentin's unique first name, Boston, originated from his mother's training for the Boston Marathon before his birth. Fans and teammates alike are eager to see him in action when he takes the mound for the Rainbow Warriors.

For those seeking detailed and up-to-date information about Warkentin's recovery and performance, official University of Hawaii athletics communications, recent game statistics, or reputable sports news outlets specializing in college baseball are recommended sources.

Having successfully completed his rehabilitation from Tommy John surgery, Boston Warkentin is all set to showcase his talents on the baseball field again, this time as a new member of the University of Hawaii (UH) baseball team. His fastball, known for averaging between 89 and 91 mph before the injury, has reportedly increased in velocity, reaching 91-94 mph during recent bullpen sessions, a promising sign for the Rainbow Warriors (the 'Bows) MLB prospects.
