Enhanced political representation fortified within Deutsche Bahn AG due to Forkel's efforts
Maximilian Forkel, a seasoned professional with a rich background in politics and business, is set to join German Railways AG (Deutsche Bahn AG) as the Chief Digital Officer (CDO) from 2025.
In this new role, Forkel will spearhead the digital transformation of the company, overseeing digital strategy, innovation, and the implementation of new technologies to enhance the railway network and improve customer experience.
Prior to this, Forkel served as a personal assistant to the DB's corporate representative for Bavaria for five years. During this time, he was instrumental in fostering cooperation with the Bavarian parliament, the Bavarian state government, and local decision-makers.
Forkel's extensive experience and excellent network in politics and business will be utilised in his new role at German Railways AG. However, his new position does not involve any specific responsibilities towards the Bavarian parliament, the Bavarian state government, or local decision-makers, as was the case in his previous role.
Instead, Forkel will report directly to Dr. Andrea Berndt, head of the capital office. His skills and experience from his previous roles will be brought to bear in his new position, as he aims to drive digital innovation and improve the railway network for millions of passengers.
At just 31 years old, Forkel brings a youthful energy and fresh perspective to German Railways AG. His appointment is a testament to the company's commitment to embracing digital transformation and staying at the forefront of innovation in the rail industry.
