World Series of Poker (WSOP) 2021 Expands Main Event with Additional Flights
Enhanced Main Event in 2021 World Series of Poker with the introduction of two additional starting flights.
Toss the cards up, it's time for the 52nd annual World Series of Poker® (WSOP®), and this year, they're pulling out all the stops! To accommodate the booming interest from around the globe, the WSOP has added two Day 1 starting flights to the 2021 Main Event, as travel restrictions ease and the vaccinated international crowd is raring to go!
Let's discuss what's in store for the poker junkies this year!
The WSOP always thrives on a diverse and robust player pool, with international participants being a significant part of the experience. Back in 2019, more than a thousand players from 118 countries took part in the WSOP extravaganza. It's all about keeping the tradition alive, as seven of the last 16 Main Event Champions hail from international shores!
So, without any further ado, grab your passport, get those vaccines, and saddle up for the following additional flights:
- Monday, November 8th, Day 1E, kicking things off at 11 AM with full force.
- Tuesday, November 9th, Day 1F, letting the cards fly at 12 noon.
And, hey, the last call for registration won't be on a drawn-out Farewell Tour! It'll wrap up at 3:40 PM on Wednesday, November 10th, making sure you don't miss out on your chance to seal that elusive victory!
As Ty Stewart, the Executive Director at the World Series of Poker (WSOP), remarked, "We ain't holding back for the world champ title; we want players from all corners of the globe to get their poker fix!"
Plus, there's more good news for those looking to earn their spot in the championship: Mega Satellites have been extended right up to the morning of November 10th!
So, what's the catch, you ask? To secure a spot at the table, all participants need to prove they're fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and show the necessary documentation. The WSOP has teamed up with CLEAR's free mobile app and Health Pass feature to help sort out the vaxxed from the unvaxxed. Players who've added their proof of full vaccination via CLEAR's Health Pass can breeze right past the registration tellers and dive straight into the action within the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino Convention Center!
However, there will be an on-site centre for those who prefer to present physical vaccination cards or state/country-specific health passes[4]. To get your shot and still feel like you're a fully vaccinated player, you'll need to have received your final vaccine dose 14 days prior to the tournament's start date[4].
Let's not forget about the mother of all poker events, shall we? The World Series of Poker® is the behemoth of poker tournaments, having doled out a whopping over $3.29 billion in prize money and the coveted gold bracelet, recognized as the pinnacle of poker success! The event offers a plethora of tournaments, spanning every major poker variation and boasting a legacy that traces all the way back to 1970[5].
Come on in, poker enthusiasts; we've got a tournament that'll keep you on the edge of your seat! The updated schedule for the WSOP 2021 can be found at WSOP.com/tournaments!
