Rot-Weiß Open Tennis Tournament Set to Kick Off in Hagen, Germany

The Rot-Weiß Open tennis tournament is set to return as the Platzmann Open, an ATP Challenger 75 event, from July 27 to August 3, 2025, at TC Rot-Weiß Hagen, Germany.

This year's tournament promises to be an exciting one, with the event upgrading from A4 to A3, leading to an improvement in the quality of participants. Several players from the top 50 in Germany are expected to take part, although specific names are yet to be confirmed.

Nino Toto, ranked 88th, is the highest-ranked player in the men's draw, with Piet Steveker (111) and Paco Wortelmann (133) also participating. Eric Lennox Drathen from Witten is also set to compete.

Among the men, Daniel De Jonge, ranked 61st on the DTB list, is the favorite. However, details regarding his participation in the tournament are not yet available.

For the women, Sofia Shapatava leads the field, ranked 16th in the DTB ranking. Unfortunately, the reigning champion, Sarah Gronert, will not be participating due to her involvement in another tournament in Wuppertal.

Three players ranked in the top 100 of the German rankings have registered for the women's draw - Leticia Solakov (75), Isabella Angelina Abendroth (85), and Arina Kostina (94).

The first matches are scheduled for Thursday at 2 pm, with the men starting the competition. A re-stringing service will be available from the third day of the tournament, allowing players to have their rackets restrung within 30 minutes.

TG Rot-Weiß Hattingen continues to develop the tournament each year, ensuring the comfort of the participants beyond the high prize money of 10,000 euros. A physiotherapist will be on-site during the tournament to take care of the players' needs, helping them cope with the many matches in a short period.

For the most accurate and updated schedule and participant list, including German top players and the named favorites, checking the official tournament website or ATP Challenger official sources closer to the event date is recommended. The deadline for registration is August 10th.

The Rot-Weiß Open tennis tournament is a well-established event in the calendar of tennis enthusiasts from the region and beyond. For more information, visit the official tournament website.
