In the city of Gelsenkirchen, authorities took decisive action against the 'speeding and tuning scene' on a day known as 'Car Friday' or 'Carfriday'. The Municipal Ordinance Service, the Traffic Monitoring Service of the city, and the Gelsenkirchen police conducted extensive traffic checks throughout the city, focusing on known meeting points of the aforementioned scene.

The operation, which aimed to ensure the safety of the city's streets, resulted in a significant number of traffic violations being recorded and penalized. A total of 42 speeding offenses were detected, with one vehicle exceeding the speed limit by 44 km/h on Magdeburger Straße. The Gelsenkirchen police issued 101 warnings and filed 27 administrative offense reports during the operation.

Police Chief Superintendent Andreas Kluth, head of the Traffic Division, acknowledged the extensive traffic checks and stated that there were no speeding or show-off meetings in Gelsenkirchen. He also noted that despite the large number of traffic violations recorded, this was a positive outcome as such meetings were prevented.

Two vehicles were seized during the operation, and 10 traffic checks resulted in criminal charges. The intensive preparations and media coverage seem to have had an effect in preventing these gatherings.

The city and police have made it clear that those who misuse public road space and behave recklessly in Gelsenkirchen can expect 'zero tolerance' from the authorities. Violations of the rules and detected offenses will be consistently punished in Gelsenkirchen using all legal means.

During the checks, 16 control reports were written. An open arrest warrant was found and executed during the operation. The search results do not provide information about the name of the police chief inspector in Gelsenkirchen who communicated the evaluation of the case on 'Carfriday'.

The safety of the streets in Gelsenkirchen is a top priority, and authorities will continue to enforce measures in this area. The city and police will remain vigilant in their efforts to maintain a safe and orderly environment for all residents and visitors.
