Enhanced Acoustics at the New Taipei Dome for Improved Listening Experience for Both Spectators and Players
CODA Audio's AiRAY System Shines at Taipei Dome's Debut
The recently opened Taipei Dome, located in the heart of Taiwan's capital, made a grand entrance with the successful deployment of CODA Audio's flagship AiRAY system. Supplied by CODA's Taiwan distributor, Orpheus Acoustics, the system was put to the test during both baseball games and the 58,000-strong concert audience at the venue.
The AiRAY system, renowned for its bi-amplified line array elements, proved to be a resounding success in the high-pressure environment of the Taipei Dome. With its 2x12" woofers, 2x6" midrange drivers, and a 1.75" compression driver, the system delivered high power and clarity, ensuring clear, punchy sound across the expansive venue.
The system's modular design allowed for scalable line arrays, providing flexibility to cater to the diverse acoustic requirements of the Taipei Dome. Three CODA Audio LINUS T-RACK units, each containing three LINUS14D amplifiers, powered the system, ensuring consistent audio performance throughout the events.
The setup crew faced a challenging task, with only fifteen minutes to manually handle all the loudspeaker ground stack units from storage areas into their precise positions. However, the compact system at the Taipei Dome made it easy to work with, enabling a swift setup.
Audio specialist Clark Chan, who has a strong relationship with Orpheus Acoustics, designed the system using CODA's System Optimiser prediction software. The production team had to assemble the loudspeaker ground stacks between the conclusion of the game and the start of the concert due to safety protocols. Despite these constraints, the system's professional rigging with SCP-F frames and transport dollies facilitated speedy setup and system stability.
Andy Chen of Orpheus Acoustics was impressed with the system's performance, stating that it set a new benchmark for such events. The system's wide horizontal coverage of 90° ensured broad and even sound dispersion across the large venue, contributing to its success.
The Chinese Professional Baseball League matches will be held at the Taipei Dome during the 2024 season. Orpheus Acoustics hopes that CODA Audio will be the choice for many more events of this kind at the Taipei Dome, given the system's accuracy and reliability and the expertise of Clark Chan.
The sound system at the Taipei Dome was also used for the 2024 All-Star Game, amplifying sound for 40,000 fans during baseball games. The AiRAY system's success in a high-pressure environment with strict safety protocols underscores its suitability for demanding large-scale indoor and outdoor events.
