English Theatre must wait longer - English Theatre must wait longer
Frankfurt’s English Theatre (ETF) has delayed its return once more. The venue’s reopening, originally set for mid-November 2025, has been pushed back due to ongoing building issues. All shows, including the musical Something Rotten!, remain cancelled through January 2026.
The theatre first halted performances in early 2024 when renovations began in its Frankfurt banking district location. Since then, technical problems have persisted, preventing the venue from reopening as planned.
Artistic director Daniel Nicolai confirmed that the ETF team is prepared to resume operations. However, the building itself remains unfit for use. The latest delay extends cancellations for *Something Rotten!* and all other productions until at least January 31, 2026. The theatre had aimed to return by mid-November 2025, but unresolved issues in the renovated space have made this impossible. No new reopening date has been announced yet.
The postponement leaves ETF without a confirmed timeline for resuming shows. Patrons holding tickets for cancelled performances will need to await further updates. The theatre’s future now depends on resolving the building’s outstanding technical challenges.
