England's Rowing Team set to compete in the Fourth Home International Rowing Beach Sprints
England Rowing Team Prepares for the Fourth Home International Beach Sprints
The England Rowing Team is gearing up for the fourth Home International Rowing Beach Sprints, to be held on 21 September at Loughros Point, Co Donegal, Ireland. James Andrews, the team delegate and England Pathway Manager, representing British Rowing, is leading the charge.
In the Mixed Double event, Oli Snoxall and Isabel Lancaster will team up, while Zara Gray and Valen Giacchetto will represent England in the Junior Mixed Double. Zack Hills, a promising junior rower, will compete in the Junior Men's Solo, representing Whitby Coastal RC, Chester-Le-Street ARC, and Tynemouth RC. Bass Andre from Shanklin Sandown RC / Molesey BC will compete in the Women's Solo event.
Tom Walker and Caitlin Lockey will represent England in the U23 Mixed Double event. The team will compete in seven events, spanning junior, senior, and U23 categories.
Emma Benany, the lead coach, and Kath Coleman-Jones, who participated in the first ever Home International Rowing Beach Sprints, will be returning as coaches for this year's event. Kath will be joined by Heather McDermott and Bryony Reeve. Kath, who has a rich history with the Beach Sprints, will also be serving as a coach for the third consecutive year.
Hal Flowerdew, the team captain, will be competing in the Men's Coastal Solo for the fourth time. Hal, a member of Tynemouth RC, won the Senior Male title at a Beach Sprint competition in 2024.
Rachael Ball is the team manager, with Lucy McNulty serving as the safeguarding officer. Jonathan Martini, Naomi Davis, Brage Wallis, Leah Saunders, Jacob Lloyd, and Molly Cartwright-Tickle are the reserves and boat handlers for the team.
Phil Clements has been appointed as the umpire for the event. The Home International Rowing Beach Sprints will feature the traditional home nations of England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and Jersey.
