The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has announced the squads for the upcoming One Day International (ODI) and T20 matches against South Africa and Ireland.
England ODI Squad Against South Africa
The ODI squad includes Captain Harry Brook, Rehan Ahmed, Jofra Archer, Sonny Baker, Tom Banton, Jacob Bethell (wicketkeeper), Jos Buttler (wicketkeeper), Brydon Carse, Ben Duckett, Will Jacks, Saqib Mahmood, Jamie Overton, Adil Rashid, Joe Root, Jamie Smith (wicketkeeper), and David Willey.
England T20 Squads for Ireland and South Africa
The T20 squad for the matches against Ireland will be led by Jacob Bethell, who is set to become the youngest player to captain the England men's cricket team at the age of 21. The squad includes Bethell, Rehan Ahmed, Jofra Archer, Sonny Baker, Tom Banton, Harry Brook, Jos Buttler (wicketkeeper), Brydon Carse, Ben Duckett, Will Jacks, Saqib Mahmood, Liam Dawson, Liam Livingstone, Adil Rashid, Phil Salt (wicketkeeper), Jamie Overton, Tom Hartley, and Moeen Ali.
Mark Wood, a fast bowler, will not be part of any upcoming squads due to his continued recovery from knee surgery. However, Matthew Potts and Luke Wood have been included in the T20 squad for the Ireland tour.
England vs South Africa Fixtures
The England vs South Africa fixtures include three ODIs and three T20s. The first ODI will be on September 2 at Headingley (d/n), followed by the second ODI at Lord's (d/n) on September 4 and the third ODI at Utilita Bowl, Southampton on September 7.
The T20 series will commence on September 10 in Cardiff (d/n) with the first match, followed by the second T20 at Emirates Old Trafford (d/n) on September 12 and the third T20 at Trent Bridge on September 14.
Jacob Bethell's appointment as captain for the T20 squad for the Ireland tour and the upcoming tour to Ireland for three T20 matches marks a significant milestone in his career.
