Engineer Tim Berry Recognized with Lifetime Achievement Award by TAB
Tennessee Association of Broadcasters Honours Tim Berry and David Widener with Lifetime Achievement Awards
The Tennessee Association of Broadcasters (TAB) recently recognised two veterans of the broadcasting industry, Tim Berry and David Widener, with Lifetime Achievement Awards. The prestigious accolade was presented at TAB's annual Excellence in Broadcasting Awards banquet, which took place on Aug. 18, at the Country Music Hall of Fame in downtown Nashville.
Tim Berry, who has been an integral part of TAB's Alternative Broadcast Inspection Program for over two decades, has spent more than three decades as a broadcast engineer. He began his career in 1989 and has since worked for various stations, including WUOT, WIVK, and the Vol Radio Network. Berry served as the chief engineer of WUOT from 1990 to 1998 and re-joined the station in a similar role in a later year. He currently serves as WUOT's chief engineer.
Berry has also overseen and directed the engineering operations for University of Tennessee sports games and statewide weekly shows as the longtime chief engineer and technical director for the Vol Radio Network. In addition to his work with TAB, he provides stations with self-inspections and engineering advice to members. Berry was previously honoured by the Southeastern Conference Association of Broadcasters for his service to the University of Tennessee and the SEC earlier this spring.
David Widener, the president and general manager of Holston Valley Broadcasting Corporation, has spent five decades in the broadcast industry. He has overseen six radio stations and two television stations in the Johnson City-Kingsport-Bristol Tenn./Va. market. Widener's career began in the 1970s, and he has since made significant contributions to the industry.
Berry and Widener were co-recipients of the TAB Lifetime Achievement Award. The award recognises individuals who have spent their careers demonstrating a longstanding commitment to the broadcasting industry in Tennessee, as well as the local communities they serve.
The Lifetime Achievement Award is a testament to the dedication and hard work of both Berry and Widener. Their contributions to the broadcasting industry and their commitment to serving their communities have not gone unnoticed. Congratulations to Tim Berry and David Widener on this well-deserved recognition.
