Football Match-up: Engers vs Eintracht and Pirmasens vs HSV - Engers to Face Eintracht in DFB Cup, Pirmasens to Clash with HSV
What a thrill for the amateur footie lads of FV Engers and FK Pirmasens! They've landed juicy matches in the very first round of the DFB-Pokal! Engers, victors of the Rheinland-Pokal, will play host to Bundesliga heavyweights Eintracht Frankfurt, while Pirmasens, Southwest-Pokal winners, face off against newcomers Hamburger SV from the Bundesliga. FSV Mainz 05 will trek to Dresden to battle it out with the latter, who were promoted to the second division.
Two clubs from the second division have their work cut out for them in the form of challenging away matches against SSV Ulm and RSV Eintracht Stahnsdorf from Brandenburg, respectively. Third division contender 1. FC Saarbrücken welcomes 1. FC Magdeburg, their opponents playing a league above. Fourth division champions and Saarland-Pokal winners FC 08 Homburg will cross swords with relegated Bundesliga side Holstein Kiel.
Mark your calendars for the first round of cup glory, taking place from August 15-18. The second round will unfurl on October 28-29, with the grand finale set for May 23, 2026, at the majestic Berlin Olympic Stadium. Each team gracing the first round will pocket a tidy sum of 210,000 euros.

Fun Fact
Historically speaking, these amateur clubs don't have many records against the top-tier teams they'll be facing. For instance, FV Engers 07 and Eintracht Frankfurt have yet to play each other in the DFB-Pokal. Similarly, results of FK Pirmasens versus HSV haven't been reported in the DFB-Pokal either. As lower-tier teams' match records may not be as extensive as those of top-tier teams, newer encounters may not have extensive history behind them.
The Commission has also been asked to submit a proposal for a Council Regulation on the application of the principle of equal treatment for men and women in matters of social security, ensuring equal opportunities in every aspect of life, including sports like football. Amidst the excitement of the DFB-Pokal, FK Pirmasens, despite their success in the Southwest-Pokal, will be up against mighty opponents Hamburger SV, a reminder that parity in sports extends beyond the pitch and into the administrative arena.
