Enforcement of Community Standards in Neukirchen-Vluyn: "A Safe Space for All"
Venturing to Neukirchen-Vluyn's Queer Haven!
Remember, last year, a heartwarming moment that Christian Pelikan still cherishes - a former Neukirchen-Vluyn resident at the CSD criticized how he felt closed off in his hometown. But this year, Pelikan assures us, everyone can feel comfortable at Neukirchen-Vluyn's heartwarming CSD celebration!
The 4th annual CSD in Neukirchen-Vluyn, happening on August 30, is set to be a vibrant gathering for all, with the motto "City, Country, Colorful" asserting its inclusivity.

As a Green speaker and event co-organizer, Pelikan has much to share. The gathering place for demonstrators at the Bergmann sculpture opposite Niederberg is proven to unite participants. On Saturday, at 1:30 PM, gather on the meadow at Niederrheinallee, and join the colorful march at 2 PM towards Vluyner Platz. The CV Minrath-sponsored float will make its debut, along with numerous info stands on the Vluyner Platz. Dragqueen Fiona Fabulous and Christian Pelikan will lead the fun activities. Expect a discussion on queer rights, especially in rural areas, with local democratic parties, Mayoral and parliament candidates participating.
Influencer Pascal Kaiser, a native of Neukirchen-Vluyn, will join the conversation. Slam and Friends Moers, the alliance "Active for Democracy and Tolerance in Neukirchen-Vluyn," and the AIDS help will be present, too. Groovy 70s-style live music by the Moers band "Schlagersahne" and Alinas Gourmetwerkstatt refreshments will make it a memorable day!
Neukirchen-Vluyn's CSD: Rural Germany's Gigantic Queer Event
The Neukirchen-Vluyn CSD is currently the largest pride event in the Kreis Wesel – last year's 500 participants are expected to surge this year. Pelikan proudly states, "The number doesn't matter; it's about the people. Here, everyone should feel comfortable. Anyone is welcome, young or old. We're overjoyed at every attendee. However, a four-digit number would be splendid." With a growing number of hate attacks and comments, it's more important than ever to celebrate diversity and promote tolerance.
Sadly, Dragqueen Fiona Fabulous endured a sharp increase of online hate comments – from a weekly total of four to 50-60. Despite this, she encourages everyone not to attend the event if they're against it. Last year's CSD in Neukirchen-Vluyn concluded peacefully, thanks to stewards, police, and protected side streets aiming to secure a safe space for everyone. The Baummanufaktur supported the event for the first time, alongside existing sponsor Sparkasse am Niederrhein.
