Kanpur, India: During a public rally on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi implicitly threatened Pakistan, stating that their tactics of State and Non-State actors would no longer be effective. He asserted that India had infiltrated terrorist hideouts within Pakistan, launching operations hundreds of miles within their borders. PM Modi opined that the enemy will be intimidated wherever he may be, if he encounters a direct message from Kanpur.

Prime Minister Modi had earlier planned to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of 15 development projects valued at INR 47,600 crore in Kanpur on April 24. However, he was compelled to cancel his visit due to a terrorist attack in Pahalgam.

The Pahalgam attack tragically claimed the life of Shubham Dwivedi, a local resident of Kanpur. PM Modi expressed his condolences to the family, acknowledging the sorrow, agony, and inner rage that Shubham's daughter, Aishnya Dwivedi, and all of India felt in response to thisbarbaric act. He likened the collective anger to Operation Sindoor, a military operation launched by India to deter terrorism and demonstrate resolve.

Operation Sindoor, an Indian military operation carried out on May 7, 2025, targeted terrorist sites across Pakistani-administered Azad Kashmir and Punjab. The operation aimed to degrade terrorist infrastructure and demonstrate military capability without escalating tensions significantly. The operation employed precision long-range Excalibur rounds and loitering munitions, as well as strikes from India's Air Force in Punjab.

International attention was drawn to the conflict as both India and Pakistan exchanged strikes, with reports of aircraft losses. The situation remains tense, with further military exchanges taking place between the two nations following the initial operation.

  1. Amid the ongoing tensions with Pakistan, Prime Minister Modi reiterated his stance on terrorism during a televised address, stating that India will continue to take decisive action against any acts of terror, drawing parallels between the current situation and the strategic Operation Sindoor.
  2. In addition to the geopolitical tensions, prime business channels are anticipating a potential economic slowdown due to the ongoing conflict, as foreign investors express uncertainty regarding the general news and political climate in India.
  3. As the business community looks on with concern, global news outlets are closely monitoring the situation, reporting on every military exchange between India and Pakistan, with both nations showcasing their arsenals in the war-and-conflicts domain, potentially affecting the overall development and growth in the region.
