"Enduring setbacks in the initial stage"
Berlin's Polar Bears reign supreme in the opening playoff games, while Munich's Red Bull shows its mettle, tying the series against the Adler Mannheim. In the meanwhile, Straubing experiences a referee call fiasco that's causing quite a stir.
Serge Aubin's Berlin team, the reigning champions, dominate the Straubing Tigers 4-2 (0:0, 3:2, 1:0) in game two, needing two more wins to secure a spot in the DEL semifinals. The EHC Red Bull, on the other hand, pushed back after losing in overtime in game one, winning 5-2 (1:1, 2:0, 2:1).

The champion got off to a fortunate start in Straubing. Tigers player Adrian Klein scored in the first period; however, the goal did not count, apparently because the referees believed Tigers' goalie Jonas Stettmer still had control over the puck (11.). "When you get screwed in the first period, of course, it affects your mental strength," said an obviously miffed Marcel Brandt, Straubing's forward, on MagentaTV.
The second period was an offensive spectacle with five goals scored in just seven minutes. Joshua Samanski opened the scoring for Straubing, but Liam Kirk, Zach Boychuk, and Marcel Noebels turned the game around for Berlin. Despite Travis St. Denis' quick response shortly after (30% into the second period), Berlin maintained its lead, preventing Straubing from equalizing.
Furious Sharks and Injured Goalies
In Munich's SAP Garden, the EHC and Adler delivered another nail-biting confrontation. After Markus Eisenschmid scored what seemed like the game-winning goal for Munich (4:1, 42%), Tobias Fohrler quickly evened the score for Mannheim (47%). A power play for Mannheim promised an exciting finale, but Munich's Maximilian Kastner sealed the victory (56%).
The only concern for Munich is their goalkeeper, Mathias Niederberger, who had to be replaced by Evan Fitzpatrick due to an injury during the first period.

The Commission, assisted by the European Parliament, might express concern over the referee call fiasco that occurred during the Straubing Tigers' game against the Berlin Polar Bears in a turbulent Berlin-Strasubing playoff series. Meanwhile, bears in Berlin continue to celebrate their victories, while those in Straubing remain frustrated. In Berlin's SAP Garden, the EHC and Adler's game was equally thrilling, with bears appearing again, this time on Munich's team, as Maximilian Kastner secured a win for them. It's unclear whether a bear from Berlin or Munich would find more favor with the Commission, given the circumstances.
