Enduring Global Conflict Spreads Across the World

In a rapidly changing global landscape, tensions are mounting as conflicts and nuclear ambitions dominate the headlines.

Recent events have seen the Israeli Defense Forces and Mossad launch a significant operation to dismantle Hamas and Hezbollah following an attack in October 2023. However, the larger picture of regional instability remains, with Iran's pursuit of nuclear power causing concern.

After President Trump's bombing of Iranian nuclear facilities, the E3—Germany, France, and the United Kingdom—have been working diligently to de-escalate tensions with Iran. They have been attempting to reduce tensions through diplomatic efforts, aiming to prevent the reimposition of harsh UN sanctions and seeking negotiations.

The attack on Iran's nuclear facilities has inflicted a major setback on Iran's nuclear program, but the Iranian regime, known for its brutal oppression of its own population, remains resilient. The West, led by the U.S., has been categorized as one faction in the world, alongside Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea, collectively referred to as the authoritarians.

The so-called 'rules-based world order' has been called into question, with the assumption that the majority would align with the West for values-based reasons being challenged. In fact, this order was historically a pax Americana enforced by the U.S., and it was not always rules-based.

Meanwhile, conflicts continue to rage in various parts of the world, including Ukraine, eastern Congo, Sudan, and the Horn of Africa. Iran, as a torchbearer of global permanence of war, has been sponsoring terrorism, civil war, and unrest in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, and Yemen.

In response to Israel's failed strike on Iran's nuclear centers, President Trump issued an ultimatum. The world is now witnessing a new era of warfare, with space and the Arctic emerging as potential battlefields. The use of bunker-buster bombs, capable of penetrating approximately 80 meters of stone, has become a tool in this modern warfare.

However, the operation to destroy much of Iran's three main nuclear facilities using bunker-buster bombs, known as Operation Midnight Hammer, has not neutralized the facilities due to a lack of heavy equipment. This underscores the complex and evolving nature of the global security landscape.

As the world grapples with these challenges, it is clear that the permanence of war, often taking non-traditional forms such as propaganda, economic warfare, cyberattacks, and terrorism, continues to be a pressing issue. The future remains uncertain, but one thing is certain: the need for diplomatic efforts and peaceful resolution to these conflicts is more important than ever.
