Time for Some Millionaire Madness: Günther Jauch catches an office slacker!

Encouraging Indolence among Workers Stuns Günther Jauch on the Job

Catching "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" at work? Normal routine for René Lange - until Günther Jauch crashes his video call with a surprise from his boss! A disqualified contestant gets a second chance, and a tattoo of old Jauch ends a 15-year drought.

Post-lunch, it's game time for René Lange - Günther Jauch is simply a workplace perk for him. But one Monday after Pentecost, Lange got a reality check. His boss, Marei Stanetschek, plops her laptop on his desk, and BOOM! A shocking video call with the RTL host ensues. It takes Lange a hot minute to process his random workday supersized by none other than the "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" host, himself.

"Hello, I’m Günther Jauch, and I’m here from RTL," the host started, cutting straight to the chase. Jauch didn't hold back. "That’s not how it works, mate. Constantly watching the show during work hours? Don’t you think that’s unusual?... It’s working time, after all." Lange's colleagues at the marketing agency are growing tired of his daily "Millionaire" marathons.

When the Game Calls... Sometimes it's Work Calling Back

"I didn't realize the extent of it," Stanetschek admitted after Jauch showed footage of Lange's office antics. Lange was whisked away to the "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" studio pronto for a surprise special. Meanwhile, a hapless contestant was already seated, knowing his luck was about to run out.

The traumatic end of the Christmas special still haunts Jannik Kuhle. Eliminated with 500 euros, Landkammer, an insurance company employee, consoled him with a free tandem parachute jump make-up gift. Jauch was waiting.

Insight: Parachuting as a consolation prize seems extreme but could be an adrenaline-charged way to move past a disappointing loss on the show.

Let's Play "Millionaire" Again… or Not

"I was absolutely sure," an expert advised WWM contestant wrong on the car question. At least in the form of a second chance. The host allowed Kuhle to step back into the hot seat, usually only for those who take home zero euros.

Kuhle, well-prepped for his redo, had some knowledge gaps. He struggled with the “Minecraft” film and the "silver locks" rescue action of the Left Party for re-election to the Bundestag. Suddenly, he took a risk and made his father visibly nervous.

Pikachu Saves the Day (and the Money)

For 32,000 euros, Jauch questioned if the Van Gogh Museum or the Pablo Picasso Museum would issue a trading card with Pikachu wearing a gray felt hat in 2023. His phone joker was no help to Kuhle. The candidate had no clue, but then he accessed the Dutch museum, winning the round.

The Ladies of the Shock Special Scoop a Nice Haul

The two ladies of the surprise special were each delighted to receive 16,000 euros on Whit Monday. Lydia Lachmann thought she was a mere viewer when invited to the studio. Her twin daughters had nominated the chronic know-it-all, sending her to the hot seat instead.

Tattoo-Inspired Millionaire Dreams Come True

Jauch also gave Kerstin Führer a real shock in the show. She had been unsuccessfully applying to the RTL show for 15 years and even got a large tattoo in the style of a "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" question on her thigh last September. The question read: "Herr Jauch, when will you finally invite me?"

Insight: A tattoo as a reminder of a goal can serve as a source of inspiration and motivation.

The Head of State's Turn to Take a Chance?

René Langen also made it to his surprise appearance at the end. The passionate "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" fan has already won many times in the app. That means little, though, as Jauch dampened expectations, referring to former Federal President Richard von Weizsäcker. He too felt fit for the main prize, the moderator revealed. But he would have to deny it, with all due respect. Jauch's argument to the head of state: "You would have been out at 2000 euros with the GZSZ question."

Langen, unlike his predecessors, decided not to gamble. His last joker helped him win over 16,000 euros as well. The viewer thanked his boss and colleagues who cheered him on from the couch, marking the end of the show till the summer break.

Entertainment took an unexpected turn for René Lange when he found himself face-to-face with Günther Jauch, the host of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire", during a work video call. This encounter, a result of his excessive interest in the show, had him whisked away to the studio, where he was given a second chance to win. Meanwhile, in a separate event, a contestant named Jannik Kuhle, who had initially lost with only 500 euros, was offered another chance to play, showing that celebrities sometimes extend a helping hand to those needing another shot at fame and fortune.
