Employees from Blackstone, the NFL, Rudin, and KMPG offer condolences following the tragic shooting incident in New York City.

In a shocking turn of events, a shooting at 345 Park Avenue in New York City has left four lives tragically cut short. The incident, which occurred on Monday, has sent ripples of sorrow and disbelief throughout the city.

The shooter, identified as Shane Tamura, entered the building carrying an M4 assault rifle. He reportedly shot people in the lobby and on the 33rd floor before taking his own life, according to Mayor Adams and various reports, which cite a suicide note left in the building. Among the victims was NYPD officer Didarul Islam, who bravely responded to the scene.

The shooting has claimed the life of Wesley LePatner, a colleague of Blackstone. Initially, it was reported that LePatner was a Blackstone Real Estate Income Trust (BREIT) executive, but it has since been clarified that he was not. LePatner was Global Head of Core+ Real Estate and the Chief Executive Officer of Blackstone Real Estate Income Trust (BREIT).

The tragedy has also claimed the life of a young worker from Rudin Management, the company that owns 345 Park Avenue. Following the shooting, NFL employees were advised to work from home or take the day off, as one employee remains hospitalized.

KPMG, a company with offices at 345 Park Avenue, has closed its office and is giving employees flexibility to work from home. As of Tuesday, no timing for the office re-opening has been determined. KPMG CEO Tim Walsh and deputy chair Atif Zaim have expressed their condolences on LinkedIn regarding the shooting.

A heavy police presence remains in Midtown outside the building on Tuesday as authorities continue their investigations. It is understood that Shane Tamura entered New York City via New Jersey on Monday and had a history of mental illness.

FOX News' Bradford Betz, Brooke Curto, Kyle Schmidbauer, Paul Mauro, and Ryan Gaydos contributed to this report. The building remains closed as the investigations continue. Our thoughts are with the families and friends of those affected by this tragic incident.
