Emotional Goodbye Event in Wetzlar: Tissier Anticipates His Return

Let's Party! HSV Hamburg Crushes HSG Wetzlar 33:29

The home season finale was a win for the HSV Hamburg! With a jaw-dropping 33:29 victory against the HSG Wetzlar, they secured their win in the last game at home, in front of a spirited crowd of 3140 spectators.

From the get-go, the Hamburgers took charge. With the crowd buzzing, HSV Hamburg proved their dominance from the very first minute. After a series of breathtaking plays, a five-goal lead adorned the scoreboard in mere minutes. The star of this initial phase was none other than the Egyptian goalkeeper, Mohamed El-Tayar. His impressive performance, especially in the first 15 minutes, left the Wetzlar team stumped, offering few solutions to break through the 29-year-old's defenses.

A Slack Patch for the Hamburgers

But then, the Hamburgers hit a snag. Struggling against Wetzlar's solid defense, HSVH wasted numerous power plays and saw their passes and shots become increasingly sloppy. The guests capitalized on these inaccuracies and gradually closed the gap to just a few goals behind the Hamburgers.

Torsten Jansen, HSVH's coach, called a timeout just before the break to rejuvenate his team. Inspired by his words, the team took a clear lead into the break with a score of 16:14. Though Jogi Bitter, the HSV sports director, never felt the game slipping from their grasp: "I never doubted we would win today."

HSVH Sustains, Wetzlar Falters

Even at the start of the second half, the Hamburgers faced challenges, unable to maintain the ease of their initial success. Remarkably, they managed to hold a two-goal lead deep into the second half.

As the match progressed, Wetzlar started to crumble. The margin between the two teams started growing with each goal the Hamburgers scored, sending the fans into jubilant cheers. The second HSVH goalkeeper, Robin Haug, played a crucial role in expanding the lead with some impressive saves. Bitter couldn't hide his admiration: "Our performance today was remarkable. It's amazing to see us playing handball. It's a pity the season is already over."

The final whistle blew at 33:29, and the party commenced. The team thanked their excellent fans, who they referred to as "world-class," with a heartfelt banner. The festivities continued after the final whistle, as emotional farewells were shared with players Tomislav Severec, Zoran Ilic, Alexander Hartwig, Azat Valiullin, and today's man of the match, Leif Tissier, who is leaving for TSV Hannover-Burgdorf.

Tissier, a true Hamburg native and HSVH rising star, fought back tears as he hinted he might not have played his last game in the hall: "I can see myself playing here again someday."
