The 77th Emmy Awards, set to be hosted by comedian Nate Bargatze on September 14, promises an exciting night of recognition for the best in television. Here's a roundup of the nominees in the Drama Series, Comedy Series, and Miniseries or Anthology Series categories.

In the Drama Series category, contenders include "Andor", "The Diplomat", "The Last of Us", "Paradise", "The Pitt", "Severance", and "Slow Horses". Gary Oldman is nominated as best leading actor in a drama for "Slow Horses", while Pedro Pascal is nominated as best leading actor in a drama for "The Last of Us".

The comedy series nominees are "Abbott Elementary", "The Bear", "Hacks", "Nobody Wants This", "Only Murders in the Building", "Shrinking", "The Studio", and "What We Do in the Shadows". "The Studio" (Apple TV+) leads with 23 nominations, and its stars Seth Rogen and Jean Smart have a chance to win an award.

As for the Miniseries or Anthology Series, the category is yet to reveal its nominees. However, shows like "Black Mirror", "Dying for Sex", and "Monster: The Story of Lyle and Erik Menendez" are expected to be in the running. Interestingly, "The Penguin", with 24 nominations, and "The White Lotus" (Sky Atlantic) with 23 nominations, are strong contenders in this category.

"The Penguin" is about the rise of Batman's arch-nemesis Oswald Cobblepot in the underworld of Gotham, while "The White Lotus" offers a satire of the super-rich. Both shows are among the top favourites in the drama categories this year.

Meanwhile, Colin Farrell stars in "The Penguin", and Jake Gyllenhaal is nominated as best actor in a miniseries for "Without Evidence". Cate Blanchett is nominated as best actress in a miniseries for "Disclaimer".

Lastly, it's worth noting that "Severance" (available in Germany on Apple TV+) leads the pack with 27 nominations, dealing with the machinations of a biotech company. The show, along with "The White Lotus", is one of the top contenders for the Best Drama Series category. Interestingly, last year's winner for best drama, "Shogun", did not have a new season this year.

Stay tuned for more updates as the Emmy Awards approach!

I'm not going to be able to watch all the nominated movies-and-tv shows for the Emmy Awards due to the high number of contenders and limited time. This year, shows like "Severance" and "The White Lotus" are among the top favorites in the drama categories, promising an exciting night of entertainment.
