"Emmerdale actress Beth Cordingly expresses enthusiasm about reuniting with her former The Bill colleague, Alex Walkinshaw, during the British Soap Awards."

Beth Cordingly, who plays Ruby Miligan on ITV1's Emmerdale, has shared some light-hearted insights about her relationship with co-star William Ash, who portrays her character's husband, Caleb.

During an exclusive interview with TV Times magazine, Cordingly discussed her working dynamic with Ash alongside Coronation Street's Channique Sterling-Brown (Dee-Dee Bailey), EastEnders' Diane Parish (Denise Fox), and Hollyoaks' Jennifer Metcalfe (Mercedes McQueen). The discussion, aimed at celebrating the return of The British Soap Awards, will air on ITV1 on June 5 at 8 pm.

Asked about any annoying habits Ash might have, Cordingly joked, "The worst thing about Will Ash is hearing everybody going on about how nice he is, to be honest!" She added that while she found everyone's praise of Ash endearing, it had become a bit monotonous.

Cordingly and Ash are among the nominees for Best On-Screen Partnership at The British Soap Awards 2025, competing against Coronation Street's Alison King and Vicky Myers, EastEnders' Rudolph Walker and Angela Wynter, and Hollyoaks' Nathaniel Dass and Oscar Curtis.

Cordingly is also nominated for Best Leading Performer, along with her Emmerdale colleague Eden Taylor-Draper (Belle Dingle), EastEnders stars Lacey Turner and Kellie Bright (Stacey Slater and Linda Carter). This will not be Cordingly's first time at the event—she initially attended in 2001, when she starred on the now-defunct Channel 5 soap, Family Affairs.

The awards ceremony, which went on hiatus last year, will take place at London's Hackney Empire on May 31. Cordingly expressed excitement about catching up with two former colleagues currently working on EastEnders: Alex Walkinshaw (Walford's Ross Marshall) and Paul Bradley (Albert Square's Nigel Bates). She worked closely with Walkinshaw on The Bill and with Bradley in 2023's Paramount Plus drama, The Burning Girls.

Readers can find Beth Cordingly's full interview in the latest issue of TV Times magazine, now available for purchase.
