In a highly anticipated comeback, British tennis sensation Emma Raducanu claimed her first competitive victory since the US Open, defeating Jaqueline Cristian in straight sets (6-3, 6-4) at the Korea Open on Wednesday. The match, initially scheduled for Tuesday but postponed due to heavy rain, was eventually rescheduled and delayed again due to standing water on the court.

Raducanu, who made her third appearance at the Korea Open, was visibly emotional during the match and broke down in tears during the first set. This emotional outburst was a testament to the pressure and anticipation surrounding her return to the court.

The 19-year-old's victory marked a significant milestone in her recovery from a disappointing third-round exit at the US Open, where she was beaten by Elena Rybakina on August 29.

Meanwhile, in the world of women's team tennis, Raducanu will not be representing Great Britain in the Billie Jean King Cup quarter-final against Japan on Thursday. The British hopes will instead rest with Katie Boulter, Francesca Jones, Sonay Kartal, and Jodie Burrage. Raducanu's temporary replacement as captain of the British women's national tennis team, Anne Keothavong, was previously in charge during the tournament week of the Korea Open.

For tennis enthusiasts planning their Wimbledon 2026 trip, packages are now available. These inclusive packages start from £382 and include a reserved seat on No.1 Court with a retractable roof, a night at a centrally located hotel with breakfast, and a two-day London hotel stay. The packages also offer an exciting addition of strawberries and cream and Pimms at Wimbledon. The packages will be available from July 9, 2026.

Raducanu herself will face Barbora Krejcikova in the last 16 of the Korea Open on Thursday. The young British star will be aiming to replicate her semi-final run at the Korea Open in 2022, where she reached the final four on her debut.

As Raducanu continues her journey back to the top, tennis fans can look forward to more exciting moments from this promising talent.
