Horse Racing Preview: Notable Horses and Riders to Watch

In the racing circuit this week, several notable horses and riders are set to make their mark in various events across the UK and Ireland.

At Newcastle, Harry Charlton's trained horse, Tremolo, will be competing in the mile handicap (8.15). The horse has enjoyed a successful run since May, clinching victories at Kempton and Newcastle. Tremolo's impressive form continues, boasting a 75% strike-rate on the all-weather. Notably, Tremolo beat the Glorious Goodwood runner-up Impartiality in its last race and has been given a 3lb rise to an official mark of 90.

Meanwhile, in the same race, Charlton also runs Gran Descans, a large horse that he believes should keep improving.

Ollie Pears' Max Of Stars, a horse with an unbeaten course record until second place ten days ago, will face some progressive rivals in the five-runner line-up of the 2m1f handicap hurdle (3.55) at Newton Abbot. Pears believes Max Of Stars loves Newton Abbot, and the owners are well taken care of there.

In division two of the classified stakes (8.30) at Chelmsford, Invincible Navy, ridden by Alexandra Egan, will be dropping in trip to 6f after finishing fifth on its debut for James Owen over a mile at Lingfield. Egan, sister of David Egan and daughter of John Egan, is making her first ride for James Owen at Chelmsford.

Adrian Nicholls, the North Yorkshire trainer, has a 25% strike-rate with runners at Chelmsford in the past five years. He saddles London in the mile nursery (6.00) at Chelmsford.

At Leopardstown, Andrew Slattery will be hoping Eastwatch, a potential future Melbourne Cup prospect, will be firmly in the mix in the Listed Tote Irish EBF Vinnie Roe Stakes (6.25).

In Ireland, Miss Fourie, trained by Peter Fahey, seeks back-to-back victories in the feature 2m1f handicap hurdle (5.07) at Killarney.

Lastly, in the Devon Champion Hurdle (3.55) at Newton Abbot, Eldrickjones, trained by Roger Fell, has a 36% strike-rate (4-11) at Newcastle and runs in the 7f contest (7.15) at Newcastle.
