Emergency Warning System Exercise Scheduled for This Friday in Various Regions of Thailand

📣 Heads up, folks! The Cell Broadcast disaster alert system is getting a nationwide test this Friday at 1pm! 📣 The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) will be running the test in five locations: Chiang Rai, Ubon Ratchathani, Suphan Buri, Songkhla, and Bangkok's Government Complex. This nifty system will blast out an alert through text and sound, even if your phone's on silent mode!

But that's not all! There'll be more tests to come on the 4th and the 9th as well. On the 4th, we'll see a medium-scale test in Bangkok's Din Daeng district and four Muang districts – Lampang, Nakhon Sawan, Nakhon Ratchasima, and Surat Thani. And on the 13th, we've got a large-scale test planned for Chiang Mai, Udon Thani, Ayutthaya, Nakhon Si Thammarat, and Bangkok!

These tests are all part of the government's mission to beef up Thailand's disaster response infrastructure, working hand-in-hand with the Interior Ministry, the Digital Economy and Society Ministry, the National Broadcasting and Telecommunication Commission, the Public Relations Department, and telecom providers AIS, True, and National Telecom.

Remember, this fancy new system was born out of the need to improve our warning system after the DDPM failed to promptly notify people about the recent Myanmar earthquake. Better late than never, right? 😉

So, keep your eyes peeled and your phones handy on the 2nd, 4th, 7th, 9th, and 13th of May! And remember, it's just a test! No need to panic! 😎📞📲

The test for the Cell Broadcast disaster alert system will be held in Bangkok's Government Complex, as part of the larger series of tests in various provinces, including Chiang Rai, Ubon Ratchathani, Suphan Buri, Songkhla, and Bangkok. The results of these tests will aid in the mitigation of disaster management, given the recent shortcomings in general-news situations like the Myanmar earthquake. Politics must ensure the smooth implementation of these improvements in the disaster response infrastructure, working alongside the DDPM and other relevant ministries and telecom providers.

Nationwide exercise of the nation's cell broadcast emergency warning system is set for 1pm on Friday, spanning five locations nationwide.
