In a powerful address at the Protestant Kirchentag in Hannover, former Federal President Christian Wulff took a hard stance against the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party. Wulff declared, "For me, the rise of the AfD in Germany is not a minor concern, but a damn emergency for our country."

The CDU politician laid out his demands for a clear strategy in dealing with the right-wing extremist party, as classified by the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution. This, he believes, means combating the AfD on both military and intellectual fronts. Wulff urged, "We must fight them, militarily, argumentatively. And no extremists should be given any positions that they could use to undermine our democracy."

Wulff did not mince words when criticizing those who portray migration as the "mother of all problems." He dismissed these statements as nonsense and called for regulation of social networks to curb the spread of extremist ideas. "Social networks should not continue to operate unchecked, giving power to tech billionaires and so-called saviors," Wulff emphasized.
