On the evening of August 18, 2025, an unusual incident unfolded at Halle (Saale) Central Station. At 19:27, smoke was reported in the roof area of a S-Bahn, causing a disruption.

Two trains were delayed by a total of eight minutes, and two others were partially cancelled. Tracks 2/3 were closed, and the emergency manager and the fire brigade were alerted. The relevant train was on track 2 and was evacuated.

Officers of the Federal Police Inspectorate Magdeburg secured the scene, ensuring the safety of all involved. The man at the centre of the incident, a 39-year-old resident of Halle, was identified as the individual who insulted emergency services personnel and issued a threat.

According to current investigations, the man wanted to put his child in a fire engine, which led to the offensive behaviour and threat. As a result, the German has received a criminal complaint for insult and threat.
