In the picturesque town of Mosbach-Neckarelz, a search operation is underway for a missing swimmer who disappeared in the Neckar River on Friday evening.
The incident occurred near the Ruderclub Neptun, with two young men swimming in the area at the time. The missing swimmer was last seen a few meters from the Obrigheim shore around 6 p.m.
A drone, police helicopter, area search dogs from DRK, and a specially trained water search dog are being utilised in the search. A large contingent of officers, including from the Mosbach police station, Heilbronn water police, DLRG, DRK, and fire department, are involved in the operation.
The search was temporarily suspended in the evening and will continue on a smaller scale on Saturday. However, it will no longer be a major operation on Saturday, with sonar technology for underwater detection being employed.
The police are asking potential witnesses to contact the Heilbronn water police, and they will also be on the lookout around locks in the vicinity of Mosbach during the continued search.
So far, the search operation has been unsuccessful, and one of the young men turned back due to exhaustion. After losing sight of the missing swimmer, the young man who turned back saw a sports boat with several people on board and towing a tire in the area.
