Storm Causes Multiple Incidents in Stade District, Leaves Thousands in Damage

Yesterday evening, a storm swept through the Stade district, causing a series of incidents that left thousands of euros worth of damage. The storm resulted in over 50 deployments involving the fire department and police, keeping emergency services busy between 6:00 PM and 9:15 PM.

At around 6:45 PM, a 54-year-old Volvo driver from Nottensdorf on the county road 37 from Bliedersdorf towards Horneburg drove under a falling birch tree. Remarkably, the driver remained unharmed despite the heavy damage to the car. The incident involved a single vehicle and occurred on this specific road.

Just after 6:00 PM, a tree in Buxtehude on Bollweg fell and crashed onto two parked cars, but thankfully, no one was injured.

Around 6:15 PM, a tree in Fredenbeck on the Wedeler main street fell onto a passing Mercedes, severely damaging the car. However, the 63-year-old driver from Hammah escaped unharmed.

Several traffic signs and construction barriers had to be reinstalled due to being blown over. The total estimated cost of the property damage caused by the storm is at least 50,000 euros.

Photos of the incidents are available in the digital press box of the police station Stade. For further inquiries, please contact Rainer Bohmbach at the Police Station Stade Press Office at 04141/102-104 or via email at [email protected].

The storm-related incidents add to the list of such incidents that occurred in the Stade district. The head of the police station in Stade is Police Commissioner Jan-Niklas Witt. Emergency services from various local stations were busy cutting down fallen trees and branches, and clearing streets and paths.

The specific locations of the incidents were not previously mentioned in the earlier facts. The fire and rescue control center activated its on-call duty, allowing up to seven dispatchers to coordinate the individual deployments with the fire departments simultaneously at times.

These incidents serve as a reminder to stay vigilant during stormy weather and to prioritise safety on the roads. Let's hope for calmer days ahead.
