Emergency responders undertook a pair of rescue operations on the weekend.
In the tranquil town of Wetter (Ruhr), Germany, the volunteer deployment forces of the Grundschöttel fire station were called into action on Sunday at 11:34, responding to a report of smoke coming from a kitchen switch in the "Am Wilshause" street.
Upon arrival, the residents had already turned off the affected area. The Grundschöttel fire station forces used a thermal imaging camera to inspect the switch and its surroundings, detecting a temperature of around 60 degrees. Despite the initial concern, no further findings were made, leading the residents to be advised, in coordination with the energy supplier, to keep the area turned off until it could be repaired by a specialist company.
The operation was concluded after approximately 45 minutes for the "Am Wilshause" street incident. However, the evening was not over yet for the fire department. Later that evening, at 19:04, the deployment forces of the Alt-Wetter fire station were called out to a small fire in the same "Am Wilshause" street.
In a separate incident in Grundschöttel, the fire department was also involved. The operation concluded after 50 minutes, and a person had to be carefully transported to the waiting ambulance by the Grundschöttel fire station deployment forces. To rule out any smoldering fire in the wall, the area was opened with a chisel and a hammer.
The city of Wetter (Ruhr) expresses its gratitude to the dedicated volunteers of the Fire Department Weather (Ruhr) for their swift and professional response in both incidents. The residents of "Am Wilshause" street are advised to remain vigilant and prompt in reporting any unusual occurrences to the emergency number.
