Emergency responders from Habarov discuss rescue strategies with peers from Mongolia and China
Joint Rescue Drills Kick Off in Khabarovsk
Joint rescue services drills involving Russia, China, and Mongolia have commenced in Khabarovsk, with the aim of honing professional skills and teamwork in mixed teams. The three-day exercise, which started today, is taking place at a training ground prepared with platforms for practicing various emergency situations.
The search and rescue team of the Main Directorate of the EMERCOM of Russia in Khabarovsk Krai is participating in the drills, along with representatives from the state rescue services of China and Mongolia. These participants are preparing for INSARAG certification, an international network of countries and organizations specializing in search and rescue operations in collapsed buildings and structures.
The drills provide an opportunity for Khabarovsk rescuers to exchange experiences with colleagues from Malaysia, as well as their Chinese and Mongolian counterparts. The scenarios for the international training exercise involve a devastating earthquake, and the participants will practice search and rescue techniques using specialized tools, create passages in reinforced concrete slabs in both vertical and horizontal planes, and rescue simulated victims from a water body.
Firefighters will also exchange experiences in fighting fires under high heat conditions near open flames and rescuing people from high-rise buildings. Coordination and teamwork are the main priorities of these drills, with the skills acquired from these exercises expected to help in determining the best course of action in preventing and mitigating the effects of transborder emergencies.
The leaders of the Chinese and Mongolian rescue services participating in the rescue simulations in Khabarovsk are Wang Jianguo from China and Dorjkhandyn Enkhbat from Mongolia. The team is certified according to the INSARAG methodology, and the drills are expected to be a valuable learning experience for all involved.
On the first day of the drills, three women who were lost in the taiga in northern Khabarovsk Krai were successfully rescued, demonstrating the effectiveness of the training and the importance of these joint exercises. Firefighting units are also participating in the drills, adding another layer of realism to the training scenarios.
The joint rescue services drills in Khabarovsk are a testament to the growing cooperation between Russia, China, and Mongolia in emergency response and disaster management. These exercises are crucial in preparing for potential emergencies and ensuring that the participating countries are equipped to respond effectively and efficiently to any disaster that may arise.
