Unscheduled Ryanair Landing: A Wild Ride in the Skies

Emergency landing of a Ryanair flight in Germany leads to nine reported injuries.

On a stormy night in June 2025, a Ryanair flight from Berlin to Milan took a bumpy detour. Caught in some serious turbulence, the plane was compelled to make an impromptu landing at Memmingen Airport in Bavaria.

In the skies above Germany, nine souls hit a rough patch, as eight passengers and a crew member sustained injuries. This dramatic event unfolded after 8:30 PM, with the pilot battling fierce winds and choppy weather.

Upon arriving at Memmingen, the affected passengers were whisked off for medical attention. Of these, three required hospitalization, while the others received outpatient care. Emergency services were keep on their toes, inspecting every passenger as a precaution.

The incident left the plane grounded, preventing it from continuing its journey to Milan, which lies about 380 kilometers (236 miles) south of Memmingen. With Ryanair stepping up with bus transport, the passengers continued their travels.

Not far from Memmingen, the storm wasn't content with just playing havoc in the air. It also took a toggle at homes in Ulm, Baden-Württemberg, tearing roofs off rows of houses and making them unliveable. Miraculously, no injuries were reported during this incident. Authorities suspect a mini tornado or waterspout caused the damage[1][2][3].

In the following days, the region kept bracing for more of the extreme weather. The German Weather Service (DWD) issued warnings of hail, strong winds, and heavy rain.
