Emergency Helper in Profession: Almaty Locality's Inhabitant Aids Individuals During Mishap Once More
In the heart of Almaty, Kazakhstan, two dramatic incidents unfolded on separate occasions, each showcasing the bravery and quick thinking of local resident Tleujhan Ahmetjan.
On August 1, a fire broke out in a multi-story residential building in the Alatau district. One person tragically lost their life, a woman who jumped from a window to escape the smoke and suffered severe injuries. However, the story could have been much worse if not for the timely intervention of Tleujhan Ahmetjan. Videos from the scene showed residents jumping from upper floors, with neighbours and bystanders, including Tleujhan, catching them with blankets and mattresses to lessen their falls.
In a separate incident, an accident occurred on R. Baiseitova street, involving a woman driving with her daughter. The woman lost control of her vehicle and crashed into a metal barrier. The victim of the accident is a girl named ASEM. ASEM reported feeling a strong shock, unable to move her hands, hitting her head, and starting to shake after the collision. Tleujhan was among the first on the scene and sprang into action, calling an ambulance, contacting ASEM's husband, helping calm the frightened child, and offering words of support. He even went as far as wiping ASEM's face and hands with cold water, massaging her hands to relieve spasms, and waiting for the medics and ASEM's husband to arrive before leaving the scene.
Tleujhan's heroic actions did not go unnoticed. In 2023, he was awarded the state medal "Erelgi Ushin" (For Courage) for saving 16 people from a fire in the Akkent microdistrict. The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Alihan Smailov, also ordered the acceleration of restoration work in the Akkent residential complex, where the fire occurred.
These incidents serve as a reminder of the courage and selflessness that can be found in our communities. Tleujhan Ahmetjan's actions undoubtedly saved lives and provided comfort during times of crisis. His story is a testament to the power of ordinary people doing extraordinary things.
