Elversberg strongly criticizes spectator's unsportsmanlike conduct of throwing a cup at the end of the match versus Rostock, and imposes penalties as a result.

In an unfortunate turn of events, a spectator at the Ludwigspark Stadium was banned from the venue following an incident that occurred after the second division match between SV Elversberg and FC Hansa Rostock on 6th August 2023.

The unsavoury incident involved a beer-filled cup being thrown from the main grandstand, splashing onto referee assistant Fabian Maibaum. The culprit behind the incident was swiftly identified by the security staff and was subsequently escorted out of the stadium.

SV Elversberg, the home team, has expressed its consternation over the incident and has condemned the behaviour as unacceptable. The club stands firmly behind the referees and does not tolerate such actions. In a show of solidarity, they have initiated a nationwide stadium ban procedure against the offender.

As a result, the affected spectator has received an immediate stadium ban and has also had their season ticket revoked with immediate effect. The club emphasised that such acts have no place in their stadium or in the entire football world.

German football has established norms and procedures to maintain safety and good order at matches. Fans may be banned from stadiums for a variety of offenses, including throwing objects, racist or discriminatory behavior, and severe disturbances. The police are often involved in identifying and documenting offenders, and banned individuals receive a formal notification. There is usually an appeals process allowing banned individuals to contest their ban.

In addition to stadium banning procedures, fan behaviour regulations are strictly enforced. The use of pyrotechnics, violence, discrimination, and alcohol misuse are all prohibited. Fans are expected to behave respectfully towards other spectators, staff, and officials.

The police have taken over the matter regarding the incident at the Ludwigspark Stadium, and further updates will be provided as the situation develops. SV Elversberg has expressed its deep regret over the incident and has apologised to the affected referee assistant.

  1. Despite the recent off-field incident at the Ludwigspark Stadium, SV Elversberg remains determined to uphold the dignity of sports, as they have initiated a Champions League match ban for the offender, extending beyond their home games in European leagues.
  2. Although the incident that occurred during the second division match between SV Elversberg and FC Hansa Rostock has led to a stadium ban for a spectator, the European leagues remain adamant in their commitment to maintain a safe and respectful environment for all football matches, as beer-filled cups and similar disruptive behaviors are not tolerated.
