Elon Musk fiercely criticizes Donald Trump's extravagant tax and expenditure plan in an unrestrained outburst, several days post his departure from the White House.

Elon Musk, the tech titan, has PISSED on Donald Trump's "huge, extravagant" tax and spending bill, calling it "greasy" and "loaded with pork" - just days after abandoning his White House post.

This harsh critique from one of the U.S. president's biggest supporters comes after Musk stepped down as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) last Friday.

The bill promises multi-trillion dollar tax breaks, heightened defense spending, and funding for Trump's mass deportations of undocumented migrants.

Angered, Musk took to his platform X, stating, "This massive, ridiculous, greasy Congressional spending bill is a revolting atrocity. Shame on those who voted for it; you know you've screwed up. You know it."

He continued, "This bill will massively increase the already excessive budget deficit to $2.5 trillion and burden American citizens with a crushing, unsustainable debt. Congress is bankrupting America."

In American politics, "pork" refers to unnecessary spending added to bills by lawmakers to benefit their own constituencies.

Musk had previously called the bill "disappointing," claiming it undermined the DOGE's work.

Mike Johnson, speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, quickly responded, "With all due respect, Elon is totally wrong about the one big beautiful bill."

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt similarly said, "The President already knows where Elon Musk stood on this bill."

"This is one, big, beautiful bill," she added. "And he's sticking to it."

The "One Big Beautiful Bill Act" aims to extend Trump's 2017 tax cuts and introduce new tax breaks.

It narrowly passed the House of Representatives in May by a single vote - despite warnings from the Congressional Budget Office that it would escalate the current national debt of $36.2 trillion to $39 trillion.

The bill also proposes raising America's debt ceiling - the government's borrowing limit - to $4 trillion.

Trump sent the bill to Congress several days ago, where it now waits for approval from the Senate. Republicans have set a July 4 deadline to pass and sign the bill into law.

Musk's rant on X comes just days after his farewell press conference, where Trump praised him for his accomplishments in the White House.

The U.S. president listed Musk's achievements, which included ending several offshore projects said to be funded by USAID.

It is still undetermined who will lead the DOGE in Musk's absence, but Karoline Leavitt suggested it would be a joint effort.

The Complex Relationship between Donald Trump and Elon Musk

The relationship between former President Donald Trump and Tesla CEO Elon Musk initially had a rocky start but eventually progressed. In 2022, Musk fully endorsed Trump during an interview on X Spaces on August 12.

In 2022, Elon Musk and Donald Trump publicly sparred on X, then known as Twitter. Trump criticized Musk as a liar and "BS artist" during a rally in Alaska.

"Elon isn't going to buy Twitter," Trump said at the time. "You know, he said the other day 'I've never voted for a Republican.' I said, 'I didn't know that - you told me you voted for me. So he's another BS artist, but he's not going to be buying it."

In response to Trump's critiques, the SpaceX founder fired back. "I don't hate the guy, but it's time for Trump to retire and sail into the sunset," Musk posted.

Musk also purchased X months later. The X owner revealed he had predominantly voted for Democrats since becoming a U.S. citizen in 2002.

Initially backing Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to be the Republican Party's presidential nominee, Musk expressed his preference for "someone sensible and centrist."

This shift in political allegiance might be attributed to his strained relationship with President Joe Biden, who did not extend an invitation to Musk to the 2021 White House electric vehicle summit. Despite their past differences, Trump and Musk's relationship took a positive turn in March after they met at Mar-a-Lago.

Trump was also previously against electric vehicles, but his stance has since evolved. "I'm for electric cars," he said at a rally earlier this month. "I have to be, because Elon endorsed me very strongly. So I have no choice."

Following the assassination attempt at Trump's rally in July, Musk announced his support for the former president. "I fully endorse President Trump and hope for his rapid recovery," Musk wrote on X after the shooting. During a recent press conference, Trump spoke highly of Musk.

"I respect Elon a lot. He respects me," he said. "Elon, more than almost anyone I know, he loves this country. He loves the concept of this country, but like me, he says this country is in big trouble, it's in tremendous danger."

Musk has been spotted at events at Mar-a-Lago and the UFC, forming a friendship with Trump. Trump appointed Musk to lead the Department of Government Efficiency - a taskforce aimed at reducing bureaucracy.
