Elon Musk Slams Trump's "One Big Beautiful Bill" as a Disastrous Budget Proposal

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla (TSLA), has vocalized his opposition towards President Trump's much-touted budget bill. Taking to his platform on Wednesday, Musk declared, "America bankruptcy ain't cool, y'all! Scrap that damn bill!" His criticism followed after Musk deemed the proposal a "vile aberration" that would worsen the already astronomical budget deficit the day prior.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt downplayed Musk's barbs during a press conference, asserting that the President remained committed to the bill.

Musk, who recently vacated his position leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has pledged to redirect his attention towards his companies. Previously, he devoted his time to this role by attempting to slim down government expenses.

The so-called "One Big Beautiful Bill" narrowly passed in the House last month. For it to be thwarted in the Senate, four Republicans would need to join forces with the Democrats and reject the bill.

This colossal spending package extends numerous provisions from the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act that were expected to expire by the end of the year. Notably, it also incorporates fresh tax cuts such as absolving car loan interest, overtime pay, and tips from income tax. However, there are apprehensions that these changes could compromise the Medicaid and SNAP food aid programs, among others.

The bill's impact on electric vehicle manufacturers like Tesla is another concern raised by Musk, as it would revoke the vital electric vehicle tax credits.

In short, Musk's disapproval principally centers around the bill's detrimental consequences on the national budget and the economy, contrasting with his role at the DOGE, which focused on reducing government spending.

  1. Elon Musk, having stepped down from his role in the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), might now redirect his attention towards blockchain-based platforms, given his past criticisms of flawed policies and legislation – particularly the proposed 'One Big Beautiful Bill' – that he fears could exacerbate budget deficits and hinder the growth of Defi, the decentralized financial sector.
  2. The 'One Big Beautiful Bill,' set to absorb car loan interest, overtime pay, and tips from income tax, has sparked debates in the general news and politics arenas about whether the policy change will worsen the current budget deficit and compromise vital social programs like Medicaid and SNAP food aid.
  3. Amid concerns about the consequences of the 'One Big Beautiful Bill' for electric vehicle manufacturers like Tesla – and following Musk's recent statements against the budget proposal, citing its potential negative impact on the economy and national debt – any modifications or revisions to current tax credits for electric vehicles may require rigorous Defi token-based advocacy efforts by environmental and industry stakeholders.
