Cuban Diver Anisley García Advances to Semifinals in 3-Meter Springboard Event at World Aquatics Championships

The World Aquatics Championships in Singapore is currently underway, and one of the most anticipated events is the 3-meter springboard. Two Chinese divers, Jia Chen and Ywen Chen, are favored for the gold medal, but a surprising contender has emerged in the form of Anisley García from Havana, Cuba.

García, who primarily specializes in the platform event, has shown remarkable adaptability in the 3-meter springboard. In the preliminary round, she scored a commendable 278.70 points, placing her 13th among 52 competitors. This impressive performance earned her a spot in the semifinals.

The Chinese divers have been dominating the event, with Ywen Chen scoring the second-highest points of 323.30, while Jia Chen topped the preliminary round with a staggering 342.95 points.

García's personal best score of 291.20 points was achieved in Windsor at the World Cup, and she is aiming to surpass this score in the semifinals to secure a spot among the top 12 finalists.

The Cuban News Agency reported that García received average scores between 6.5 and 7.5 for her dives in the preliminary round. If she maintains this form, she could potentially make it to the top 12.

Despite the lack of specific data about her 2022 performance in the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore, including semifinal scores, final ranking, or her potential as a top 12 finalist, García's advancement to the semifinals is a significant achievement.

It's worth noting that García has previously been a semifinalist at the Paris-2024 Olympics, and she participated in this year's World Cup Super Final in May.

As the World Aquatics Championships continue, all eyes will be on Anisley García as she strives to make a mark in the 3-meter springboard event.

Although primarily known for her expertise in the platform event, Anisley García has demonstrated impressive adaptability in the 3-meter springboard, showcasing her skills in the preliminary round of the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore. With her upcoming semifinal performance, she aims to surpass her personal best score and potentially secure a place among the top 12 finalists in the sports of hockey-less World Aquatics Championships.
