Augsburg Securing New Coach, Jelert Transfer Rumours Circulate

FC Augsburg is currently undergoing restructuring, with no formal appointment for a sporting director yet. The German club is reportedly eyeing potential reinforcements ahead of the new season, and according to unconfirmed reports, Danish winger Elias Jelert could be one of their targets.

Whispers of conversation between Augsburg and Galatasaray Istanbul over a potential loan deal for Jelter have emerged from Turkish sources. However, the clubs are currently in talks regarding the transfer fee. The Turkish side seeks a fee of €11 million, while Augsburg is ready to agree to an option of €6.5 million. The validity of these reports is yet to be confirmed.

Prior to joining Galatasaray last summer, Jelert played for FC Copenhagen. Despite only making 20 appearances last season, playing just 551 minutes for the Turkish champions, Jelert had a more prominent role in Denmark. He played 45 games for Copenhagen in the previous season, contributing one assist and amassing 3,577 minutes. His agility, sharp dribbling skills, and tactical adaptability have garnered attention from potential suitors.

Jelert's possible arrival at Augsburg could spark movement at the right wing, following the arrival of Marius Wolf last summer. Wolf's performance, however, did not meet expectations, and a fresh contender could fill the position.

The transfer saga surrounding Jelert is predominantly centered around Premier League club Everton, with Turkish sources suggesting a transfer fee of £7 million. Yet, Jelert's struggle to adapt to the Turkish league has sparked speculation about a possible loan move. As of now, there is no publicly available evidence indicating that FC Augsburg is actively involved in negotiations with Galatasaray over Jelert's transfer.

Jelert's impressive performance in the Danish league with FC Copenhagen, particularly during the previous season where he made 45 appearances, has caught Augsburg's eye.
