The 11.5-mile (18.5-kilometer-long) Black Forest Railway ran its maiden journey on November 10, 1873. Despite battling construction works in 2023, DB Regio invested approximately 30 million euros in rail improvements between St. Georgen and Villingen-Schwenningen.
DB Regio also embarked on a pilot project to enhance employee safety on the line. Authorized bodycams were provided to train personnel to thwart potential attacks and facilitate conflict resolution. The test project yielded positive responses across the board.
