Happening in Imphal: Four members of the outlawed Kangleipak Communist Party (PWG) were apprehended in Mantripukhri French Colony, Imphal East district. They were suspected of threatening citizens by placing hand grenades at various locations in the valley area, and two pistols, two magazines, and ammunition were found on them.
In another operation, three active members of the same group were arrested from Keirao Wangkhem and its vicinity in Imphal East district, along with five firearms, ammunition, and a wireless communication device.
A member of the banned Peoples Liberation Army was nabbed in Sawombung Kabui Khunjao for alleged extortion activities, with two pistols, one grenade, and a detonator recovered from their possession.
Two active cadres of KCP (Apunba) were arrested in Thoubal district, and a cadre of KCP (Taibanganba) was apprehended in Kakching district.
Ethnic Tensions and Security Measures: Manipur has been grappling with ethnic violence for more than two years, resulting in over 260 fatalities and thousands displaced. Joint security operations have been ongoing since these unrests began, with the arrest of over 28 militants from various groups in recent months.
