Electric Current Company to Produce Horror Movie 'The Him', Starring Chris Elliott, Roxy Sophie Sorkin, Ryan Phillippe, and Others
The upcoming horror slasher film 'The Him' has been described as a remarkable and unsettling work that pushes the boundaries of the genre. The film, written and directed by Joe Gossett, tells the story of a family's Halloween display turning into a massacre by a silent killer.
Produced by Andrea Bucko of Sugar Rush Pictures and Cassian Elwes of Elevated Films, 'The Him' has already made waves in the film industry. The film was recently premiered out of competition at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival and the 50th Toronto International Film Festival.
Bucko describes the film as a chilling reimagining of the slasher genre, masterfully blending intimate family dynamics with the spine-tingling suspense of classic horror. Elwes, on the other hand, describes the film as striking a powerful contrast between the comfort of normal life and the brutal intrusion of violence.
The film's cast includes Chris Elliott, Roxy Sophie Sorkin, Asya Giller, Mindy Cohn, Andrew Liner, and Ryan Phillippe. The North American rights for 'The Him' were acquired by frosh distributor, Row K Entertainment, while Voltage Pictures has acquired international rights.
In addition to Gossett, Bucko, and Elwes, people involved in the production of 'The Him' include executive producers Tomer Shmulevich, Meadow Williams, Stacey Kemp, Danilo Dayani, Phillip Neumann, and Phillippe. Buck Traweek and Izak Zabek serve as co-executive producers.
White Rabbit Productions and Elevated Films are co-financing the film. Entertainment Law Partners, Tifanie J. Acosta and Michael Roban, represented Elevated in the production of 'The Him'.
Alexandra Cocean, President of Global Sales and Distribution at Voltage Pictures, describes the film as a terrifying concept that will leave people talking for a long time. Cocean's sentiments are echoed by Elwes, who describes the film as a remarkable work that pushes the boundaries of the slasher genre.
Unsuspecting crowds believe it's the best show in town while the home is turned into a house of horrors. With its unique blend of family drama and horror, 'The Him' promises to be a film that will keep audiences on the edge of their seats.
